The “Ulips” are growing!

The other day my five year old came running into the house , all out of breath and jumping from one foot to the other in excitement.  The “ulips” are growing!  he tells me.  “Ulips,” I’m thinking?  What are on earth are “ulips?”  And do I really want them to be growing?  So he drags me outside and proudly shows me with all the enthusiasm of a 10 million dollar lottery ticket winner the “ulips!”  “There!”  he points to a small cluster of green peeking through the earth.  “Do you see them?” he asks.  “Take a picture!” he implores me.  So here it is. The “ulips” which are actually “Tulips.”  Well, they could be daffodils.  The point is, all of us here are truly excited that spring, though not really here, (we have at least another month of snow, folks!) is showing signs of truly coming and all we have to do when we get hit by yet another blizzard is peek out the window and enjoy the beautiful sight of “ulips.”

I just love the enthusiam of children. They don’t need to win the lottery to have their day made.  The smallest things, the little details I so often miss in my rush to get the days work done still hold wonder and delight.  As a parent I feel like I have so much to teach my children but really, they are the ones teaching me. So stop for a minute, take time to smell the flowers, or if you live in WY, take a moment to enjoy the beauty of almost-blooming “ulips!”

Wherever you live, wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying spring and all the beauty that comes with new life and green things!

Gotta love those “Ulips!”

I love that little white and blue flower. We have those growing by our creek, too, in the early spring!
