Did you ever read “The Legend of King Arthur”? The images from part II of this session (see last week’s post here: “Leaves of Memory” ) remind me of the “Lady of the Lake” from that lovely and haunting old story.
She was the beautiful maiden who resided in the misty white lake who arose to give King Arthur his sword, the legendary Excalibur. She was also the one who took it back after his demise and, according to the version of the legend I read, (and there are MANY versions) holds it safely until the day shall come (for those who maintain he is merely, for the present, sleeping!) when he will need to arise and give his country aid once again! What a story! No wonder this legend has been remembered and told again and again through the generations and been painted countless times, and had dozens of poems, movies, books, etc. written about it!
The stuff of dreams (and some would say nonsense) but nevertheless, it fueled my young imagination as a child and was the inspiration for this session!
So often I aim for bright, sunlit images but enjoyed so much this time stretching my comfort zone boundaries to obtain the slightly melancholy, mysterious feel in these shots! My boys think that the driftwood coming out of the water in the full frame images looks like a sea monster!
Very magical photos! Dreamy!

Oh my, your images always evoke so much emotion! These are truly beyond beautiful. And yes, I can see how they think the driftwood looks like a sea monster, but it only adds to the mystical, magical feeling!!
Wow- absolutely dreamy!!
These images are so dreamy and beautiful. Somehow they remind me of the old fashion Christmas cards that had the dreamy white images and fringe on the edges of the cards! Very nice work! And love how you used the story to introduce the photos!
