This months blog circle theme is “Beautiful Ugly” and is part of a photo project I am participating along with a group of very talented photographers.
Over the course of the week I had photographed several different things with this theme in mind but last night’s sunset on our Laramie prairie after an UGLY three day windstorm (gusts up to 50 mph) was both breathtaking and ominous.
I often enjoy taking clients out on the prairie for their photo’s and find that it is a perfect place for SENIORS, FAMILIES, ENGAGEMENTS, MATERNITY and NEWBORN sessions. Normally I would AVOID the power lines but this time I wanted to capture their majestic beauty: sentinals of technology marching tall and ordered across the miles….stretching as far as the eye can see.
These photos are a testimony to how FAST the light changes as the sun is setting. Taken within just a couple minutes of each other, they are all dramatically different. No color shifts or extra “Photoshopping” was applied, only a slight contrast and exposure boost. The colors really were this brilliant and intense! =)

Absolutely stunning! Love your take on the beauty after the storm. And that black and white image is so haunting!
Wow! Amazing drama. I love the royal fire like colors. Great job Tess.
Beautiful series and I really love the interpretation!
Stunning shots! I see amazing shifts in the sky like this during storms over the ocean. It’s awesome to see them in a different setting.
Wow stunning! Storms seem to have the most breathtaking sunsets.
