How do you spell Smart? Savvy? Spectacular? These are all words that come to mind for this years WY Spelling Bee contestants! Congratulations to all 20 Oral Finalists! And a Special Congrats to the four winners:
Amari Bertagnolli from Sweetwater County-1st place who is, in the words of the pronouncer, Dave Lerner, “the best speller in the state of WY in 2011!” Amari will go on to the Nationals in Washington D.C. later on in the year. We will surely be cheering her on during the competition there! Amari won after 57 rounds and her winning word was “perusal.”
Nadia Torok from our very own Laramie who took 2nd place! Nadia went 56 rounds and missed a letter in the word “monastery”.
Lia Eggleston, also from Laramie! Lia took third place, went 55 rounds and missed a letter in the word “replaceable”.
Connor Jones from Big Horn County took 4th place, went 23 rounds and missed a letter in the word “symbiosis”.
